PURPOSE STATEMENT

THE IMPORTANCE OF PURPOSE:

Proverbs 19:21 (NIV) ²¹ Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

Isaiah 14:24 (NIV) ²⁴ The Lord Almighty has sworn, “Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will stand.

Isaiah 26:3 (GNB) ³ You, Lord, give perfect peace to those who keep their purpose firm and put their trust in you.

THE PURPOSE OF OUR CHURCH:

We believe the Bible is clear about God's plan for our church. Here are two passages that summarize the church's purpose:

Matthew 22:37-39 (NIV) ^{37Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’}

Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV) ^{19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”}

From these verses, we believe the following areas compose the FIVEFOLD PURPOSE OF THE CHURCH: 

1. WORSHIP

Experience the Lord in Worship - “Love the Lord...”

2. EVANGELISM

Bring People to Christ - “...go and make disciples…”

3. DISCIPLESHIP

Teach People to Live by God’s Word - “..teaching them…”

4. COMMUNITY

To Build a Community of Believers - “...baptizing them…”

5. MINISTRY

Help Christians Fulfill their Purpose - “Love your neighbor”
